Understanding Manual Resistance

Manual Resistance- a form of exercise performed against gravity or with a partner (Personal Trainer) without the use of any equipment.

To add variety.
To isolate a specific muscle group or modify the range of motion.
To provide consistent pressure throughout the entire movement & match your fatigue level for maximum results.

It is important to acknowledge the fact that both manual resistance exercises and machine exercises will both stimulate the muscle tissue and provide appropriate resistance. (IE: your muscles do not have eyes and cannot differentiate the difference between the two.)

Unfortunately, manual resistance cannot be tracked as accurately as other exercises. The amount of resistance is not going to be an exact number like that of a machine or free weight. Nonetheless, it is a valuable tool to add to your workouts!
